Super Eagles and Werder Bremen left-back Felix Agu has revealed his delight after he returned to action in his side’s loss to SC Freiburg last Saturday, Afrik Foot reports.
The 26-year-old made his first appearance in the Green and White colours of Nigeria in May 2025 during the Unity Cup at the Gtech Community Stadium in Brentford.
Agu had hoped to become a regular in Nigeria’s setup as they looked to qualify for the World Cup.
However, his hopes were dashed when he suffered a syndesmosis ligament injury in his ankle in the first week of October, and he was ruled out of action for four months.

Felix Agu out to secure Werder Bremen starting spot
The Germany-born Nigerian came off the bench to replace Julian Malatini against Freiburg on Saturday. After the game, he revealed his journey from recovery to full fitness was no easy feat.
“It was tough because it became clear relatively quickly that it would take longer again,” the full-back told Deichstube.

“Especially with the surgery, I was then stuck in that shoe, on crutches, for six weeks. I couldn’t do much. That was a really hard time.
“I’m really happy that it’s all over now and I can be back on the pitch and have fun.
“There was a lot of intensity in training; we had some good routines. Basically, what you expect after a coaching change because everyone senses their opportunity and gives it their all.
“I actually thought it would carry over even more into the game, but then you probably also see that the belief has to come back first – and we have to work hard for that,” the former VfL Osnabrück defender concluded.

Werder Bremen are currently 16th on the Bundesliga table, facing a real threat of relegation to the second-tier of German football if their results fail to improve.
Up next for Die Grün-Weißen is a clash against the league leaders Bayern Munich.
