Super Eagles striker Victor Boniface has found himself under scrutiny at Werder Bremen, but one of the club’s most respected figures believes the tide will soon turn. Claudio Pizarro, Bremen’s long-standing record scorer, says the Nigerian only needs a breakthrough moment to unlock the form expected of him.
Boniface is yet to score in nine Bundesliga appearances since arriving on loan from Bayer Leverkusen, though his link-up play has produced two assists.
The absence of goals has led to questions about his sharpness, especially after his electric rise in Germany some seasons ago. Despite that, Pizarro insists the fundamentals are still visible and that the 24-year-old only needs patience and consistency in his work.

“He’s going through a tough time at the moment, but he simply has to keep working to show his quality again,” Pizarro emphasized to Deichstube.
Pizarro urges calm as Boniface chases turning point
The Peruvian dismissed concerns about Boniface’s long-term prospects, stressing that difficult spells are part of a striker’s evolution and encouraged him to remain focused as he works toward regaining rhythm.
“Hopefully, he’ll finally get his career going at Werder; that would be very important for both sides. Once the goal opens for him, hopefully many more goals will follow.”

Boniface reportedly used the recent international break to intensify physical training, hoping to restart his season with more sharpness around the box.
His off-ball movement and pressing remain highly rated by Bremen’s technical staff, but the club also recognises that a centre-forward is ultimately judged by end product.
