Why Wilfred Ndidi won’t feature against FC Midtjylland

Super Eagles captain Wilfred Ndidi is set to miss Beşiktaş’ UEFA Europa League second qualifying round clash against FC Midtjylland after suffering an ankle ligament injury, Afrik Foot reports.

The Turkish giants confirmed yesterday that the Nigerian midfielder sustained the injury after undergoing MRI scans at Acıbadem Altunizade Hospital.

In an official statement, Beşiktaş revealed that examinations detected ligament damage in Ndidi’s ankle and that treatment has already commenced. The timing could hardly be worse for both player and club.

An untimely setback for Beşiktaş

Ndidi had been expected to play a major role in Beşiktaş’ European campaign this season.

Since arriving from Leicester City last summer, the 29-year-old quickly established himself as one of the most influential players in the squad, making 31 appearances across all competitions while also captaining the side on several occasions.
