Wilfred Ndidi to Manchester United: Besiktas’ desire for Turkish talent to fuel blockbuster transfer

Published on by

Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi could be on his way to Manchester United, as Besiktas are reportedly willing to make a significant concession, Afrik-Foot reports.

Over the past year, Ndidi has been heavily linked with a transfer to Old Trafford. Manchester United are currently short of quality in the middle of the park and are in need of a defensive enforcer.

Manuel Ugarte joined the club from PSG in a €50 million deal two years ago, but he has failed to live up to expectations.

Consequently, the bulk of the defensive responsibilities has fallen to Casemiro, who is aging and has subsequently lost some of his physical edge.

Ndidi is a cheap and logical option for the Red Devils due to his extensive Premier League experience and natural ability.

However, Manchester United failed to sign the Super Eagles star last summer, and he eventually joined Turkish Süper Lig giants Besiktas.

In January, speculation resurfaced, but nothing concrete materialized.

Meanwhile, reports stated that the Black Eagles were unwilling to do business for Ndidi, whom they view as a key player. However, Manchester United hold a bargaining chip that might make the former Turkish champions reconsider.

Altay Bayindir Could Be The Key To Wilfred Ndidi Joining Manchester United

According to a report by Turkish Football, Manchester United goalkeeper Altay Bayindir could be the key to Wilfred Ndidi joining the club.

This is because Besiktas are seriously interested in the goalkeeper, who is highly rated in Turkey. As such, they may be willing to broker a deal with Manchester United.

With this in mind, both parties could work on a swap deal that would see Bayindir and Ndidi move in opposite directions.

As it stands, Manchester United would likely be happy to do business, since Bayindir is currently the second choice behind Senne Lammens.

For Ndidi, a Premier League move to a club like Manchester United would obviously make sense, as they remain one of the biggest clubs in the world.

It remains to be seen if the deal will eventually happen.
