Super Falcons and Brighton and Hove Albion goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie has been named in the Women’s Super League Team of the Week, Afrik-Foot reports.
Selected by former England midfielder Izzy Christiansen for Gameweek 19, Nnadozie’s recognition follows an excellent performance in Brighton’s 1-0 win over Leicester City Women.
The 25-year-old was in top form throughout the match. She showed sharp awareness early on, rushing out quickly to stop a dangerous chance from Shannon O’Brien. Later in the game, she stayed calm under pressure to deal with a late corner, helping her team secure all three points and another clean sheet.

Alongside Nnadozie, other players in the Best XI includes Manchester City pair Alex Greenwood and Rebecca Knaak, and Aston Villa’s Lynn Wilms. There are also Chelsea’s Sjoeke Nusken, Tottenham’s Signe Gaupset and Liverpool’s Ceri Holland. Aston Villa’s Kirsty Hanson, Arsenal’s Alessia Russo and Chelsea’s Lauren James complete the line-up. Manchester City boss Andree Jeglertz is named as coach.
Nnadozie’s honour comes in a season where she has quietly become one of the most dependable goalkeepers in England. She has kept six clean sheets so far and boasts the best save percentage in the league at 75.7 per cent. She also ranks among the top goalkeepers for saves per match and has prevented more goals than any other keeper in the division.

Brighton’s Nigerian connection and Nnadozie’s growing impact
Nnadozie’s rise is also part of a wider Nigerian story at Brighton & Hove Albion Women. She is the seventh Nigerian player to represent the club, following names like Leon Balogun, Iniabasi Umotong, Ade Akinbiyi, and Rinsola Babajide.
Since joining from Paris FC Women in July 2025, Nnadozie has made a huge impact. She quickly became the team’s first-choice goalkeeper and has played a key role in improving their defensive record.

In just 15 league matches, she has made 53 saves, more than any other goalkeeper in the WSL this season. She has already beaten Brighton’s total save count from the previous campaign, showing just how important she has been. Her performances have also earned individual recognition, including the league’s Save of the Month award and nominations for fan-voted prizes.
Nnadozie, though, will have to be in her best element when Brighton trade tackles with high-flying Arsenal on Sunday in the quarter finals of the FA Women’s Cup.
