AFCON 2025: Where Bafana Bafana are staying plus all their match venues

Published on by

Bafana Bafana got a feel of Morocco ahead of their opening match at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations next Monday.

Hugo Broos’ men arrived in Marrakech on Thursday to intensify their preparations for the tournament that kicks off on Sunday when hosts Morocco take on Comoros a day before South Africa face Angola.

Bafana Bafana players got a feel of the weather in Marrakech as they attended their first training session and the players were in high spirits as they were taken through their paces.

Where are Bafana Bafana staying?

Broos’ team is staying at the Four Seasons Resort in Marrakech, a five-star hotel that is among the best in Morocco, and it is about 15 minutes’ drive to the Marrakech Stadium, a 40,600 venue that will host Bafana’s game against Angola.

The Marrakech Stadium is reportedly the only stadium that is both rectangular in shape and has a running track and will stage South Africa’s opening match against Angola on December 22 as well as their final group stage fixture with Zimbabwe on December 29.

In between, they will travel to Agadir, a three-hour drive, for their second group stage match against Egypt on Boxing Day and if they make it to the Round of 16 as Group B winners and then the quarter-final, they will return to the stadium for those fixtures.

South Africa’s match venues

A semi-final for Bafana Bafana will see them play in Tangier while the final is scheduled in Rabat. If Broos’ men finish second in the group, their knockout games will be played in Rabat but a second straight third-place playoff for them would see them play in Casablanca.

In case South Africa are one of the best third-placed teams, they will either play their Round of 16 match in Fes and then a quarter-final in Marrakech, or have Round of 16, quarter-final and semi-final games in Tangier, depending on the draw.

South Africa finished third at AFCON 2023 but there is hope that they can go all the way this time given their great run of results since that tournament as they head to AFCON 2025 with an unbeaten record that stretches 26 matches.
