Al Ahly Legend’s Damning View on Possible Pitso Return

Published on by

The coaching carousel at Al Ahly has started spinning again, with two prominent names linked to the vacant position: former Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez and former Red Devils boss Pitso Mosimane

Mosimane's potential return has sparked a debate, with one former Al Ahly star, Ahmad Bilal, expressing strong opposition.

Mosimane is no stranger to success in Cairo. Between 2020 and 2022, he became one of the club's most decorated coaches, lifting six trophies, including their first CAF Champions League title in seven years.

His impressive track record also includes two bronze medals at the FIFA Club World Cup. Despite this remarkable success, the former Al Ahly star believes the club should look elsewhere.

Bilal's opinion highlights the divided sentiment regarding a potential Mosimane comeback. While fans may remember his trophy-laden tenure fondly, some within the club's inner circle might prefer a different approach.

The club’s decision to replace Jose Riveiro after only three months has put immense pressure on the management to make the right choice this time.

BILAL ON WHY HE IS AGAINST MOSIMANE’S RETURN

“I am against Pitso Mosimane's return, and I was against Ribeiro's selection. I do not support the idea of looking for a coach who works in African teams, because they are all inferior to Al Ahly,” Bilal said, as per Kooora.

Bilal believes that the Egyptian giants should not consider Mosimane. He has instead advocated for the appointment of a different manager, one with a more recent history of success, who can take charge during the current international break to prepare the team.

“I hope to wait until a technical director is chosen who knows everything, and that he comes during the break so that he can be held accountable in the event of a stumbling block,” he added.

“Big teams cannot tolerate failed attempts by coaches, and big teams cannot tolerate more than three failures.”
