Arthur Zwane outshines Nabi as Chiefs miss top eight, AmaZulu finish sixth

Kaizer Chiefs concluded their Betway Premiership campaign on a disappointing note, finishing outside the top eight for the second season in a row. This came after a goalless draw against Polokwane City at the FNB Stadium on Saturday.

Despite recently lifting the Nedbank Cup, the Soweto giants entered their final league fixture in 9th place with 31 points from 27 matches. A victory was crucial to secure a spot in the top half of the table, but they were unable to break down a resilient Polokwane City side, who held firm to earn a point.

The result means Chiefs end the season without a place in next season’s MTN8 competition, a further blow to a club striving to reclaim its former glory.

ARTHUR ZWANE OUTSHINES NABI

Adding to the sting for Amakhosi fans is the success of former head coach Arthur Zwane, who guided AmaZulu to a sixth-place finish.

Zwane’s side secured the position despite a 1-1 draw against Orlando Pirates in their final match of the season, highlighting the contrasting fortunes between the two sides.

Arthur Zwane was fired by Kaizer Chiefs last year and took up a new role at AmaZulu as co-coach alongside Vusumuzi Vilakazi.

After Vilakazi’s resignation, Zwane took sole charge of AmaZulu and led them to a strong Betway Premiership finish—above his former club, Chiefs.
