Bafana Bafana to play former AFCON Champions in November!

Bafana Bafana are set for two major football competitions in the continent and in the globe.

In December, they will be among the teams that will be chasing the continental crown in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations to be played in Morocco from December 21 to January 18.

Hugo Broos' men further secured their 2026 FIFA World Cup ticket by topping Group C in the CAF qualifiers. The prestigious global competition will be co-hosted by the United States, Mexico and Canada.

It is vital for South Africa to ensure they get as many international friendly matches as possible which will provide the technical team with, not only the best team, but a wide pool of players with international experience to cover probable injuries.

The South African Football Association, SAFA, has now confirmed the national team will play the 2013 AFCON champions in the next international assignment.

Who will Bafana Bafana play in a friendly match?

“FIFA World Cup-bound Bafana Bafana will face Zambia in an international friendly match to be played at home next month,” a statement from SAFA read.

The match will be played in South Africa on Friday, 14 November 2025 as part of coach Hugo Broos’ preparations for this year’s Africa Cup on Nations (AFCON) in Morocco at the end of the year.

The South African Football Association (SAFA) will confirm the match venue and the ticketing details in the coming days.

Bafana Bafana are in Group B in the AFCON, and they will face Egypt, Angola and Zimbabwe. The South Africans play their first match of the continental tournament against Angola on 22 December 2025,” they concluded.
