‘Bafana Bafana’s World Cup squad is weak! Drop Kaizer Chiefs players; crime to leave Cupido but this is nonsense’

Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos recently confirmed his preliminary 2026 FIFA World Cup squad.

South Africa are among the 48 nations competing in the tournament, scheduled to start on June 11 and to be co-hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada. It is the first time, since 2010, Mzansi will be playing in the global competition.

Among those who did not make the squad is Mohau Nkota, Siyabonga Ngezana, Keanu Cupido among others. Have a look at our World Cup odds as well as the best World Cup betting sites in South Africa.

This is how the fans in the country reacted to the squad unveiled by the Belgian tactician.

Ndamane can’t be better than Seema

Brandon Petersen, Bradley Cross, and Thabiso Monyane made it to the preliminary squad. We’re coming back with the World Cup – Skhumbuzo Shabs

Khuliso Ndamane can never be better than Lebone Seema; this is nonsense –  Morris Mahlangu

Looks more like the final squad. Only four Kaizer Chiefs players will be dropped – Daneli

Other countries have finalised their squads, but we are still doing preliminary squads. Doesn’t he already know he wants to be at the World Cup – Sikhulile

Bradley Cross? This is criminal, even though it’s a preliminary squad – Kwazi Busele

Bafana Bafana need Ngezana!

Definitely fair, most of these players deserve the call-ups! Can only wish them all the best going forward – Uncle B

We need Siyabonga Ngezana in that defense; non-negotiable. We’d rather leave Ime Okon for Ngezana – Mothlareelwa

I hope he doesn’t select any of Kaizer Chiefs players because Pirates fans will blame them when they get knocked out in the group stages. Madala must just continue with Evidence Makgopa and others who failed to win AFCON – Hlonithipe

It’s really a crime to leave Keanu Cupido behind. We have made peace with Thembinkosi Lorch, but Keanu Cupido is the 2nd best defender playing in the country after Mudau – Spha

I know I’m not the only one seeing the  preliminary squad is weak, no big names – Jozi
