Betway Prem wrap: Zungu scores on debut as AmaZulu win, CT City stunned by Marumo

Bongani Zungu scored on debut as AmaZulu FC downed Magesi 1-0 to pick up maximum points on the road in the Betway Premiership clash.

The match took place on Saturday afternoon at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium.

Former Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Zungu, who recently joined Usuthu on a free transfer, played his first match in the green colours of the KwaZulu-Natal-based side.

Zungu started in the midfield along with Ben Motshwari. The former Rangers star scored in the 53rd minute to help his side grab a victory.

He was subbed off in the 62nd with Ethan Brooks coming on from the bench.

This win has taken Usuthu to the top half of the league table. They are sitting in the eighth place having collected 16 points after 13 league matches.

MAGESI ROOTED TO THE BOTTOM OF THE TABLE

Meanwhile, the league’s newbies Magesi are now rooted to the bottom of the standings with just seven points after 12 games they have played.

The other match of the day saw Marumo Gallants beat giant killers Cape Town City who recently beat both Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates in the league.

Marumo Gallants won 1-0 in a match that was held at the Dr. Petrus Molemela Stadium in Bloemfontein on Saturday afternoon via Edgar Manaka’s penalty.

Gallants remain in the 13th spot on the table while the Citizens are 6th.
