The 2024/25 Premier Soccer League campaign ended recently, with Mamelodi Sundowns successfully defending their crown for the eighth season in a row.
Orlando Pirates finished second on the table to qualify for the 2025/26 Caf Champions League edition alongside Masandawana.
Steve Barker's Stellenbosch finished third to earn the 2025/26 Caf Confederations Cup ticket alongside Kaizer Chiefs who won the Nedbank Cup after beating rivals Pirates in the final.
The Glamour Boys are set to miss the MTN8 for the second consecutive campaign after finishing ninth. The management and coach Nasreddine Nabi are working hard to get new players to help the team deliver domestically and abroad. But the need to get quality players.
Afrik-Foot takes a look at those who might be let go to create space for the new ones.
Bruce Bvuma

The Bafana Bafana international took the mantle from Fiacre Ntwari who had been signed at the beginning of the season to replace club legend Itumeleng Khune who was forced to hang his boots.
However, the Rwanda international took time to settle, and with pressure building against Nabi, Bruce Bvuma got his chance. Despite keeping eight clean sheets in 23 games played across all competitions, he conceded as many and was dropped for the Nedbank Cup final. Nabi needs a new man at the back to take over and bring stability at the back.
Edmilson Dove

In the last three seasons, the Mozambique international has struggled to deliver for the Glamour Boys owing to numerous injuries. Ahead of the 2024/25 season, the 30-year-old versatile defender was given a one-year extension.
Dove, however, spent most of his time on the sidelines owing to an injury, yet again. He came back with only a third of the season remaining and got his chance owing to Rushwin Dortley's injury and Thatayaone Ditlhokwe's exit. He can't guarantee an injury-free season, explaining why he should be let go.
Siyabongiseni Mthethwa

The defensive midfielder was signed from Stellenbosch in the 2023/24 season to add some steel to the otherwise soft Amakhosi midfield. However, ‘Ox' has had mixed displays at the club. At the beginning of the season, coach Nasreddine Nabi wanted him sold.
Despite getting another chance to deliver, Mthethwa has seemingly not won Nabi's heart, rightfully so. It is one of the departments the Glamour Boys will be aiming at strengthening ahead of a busy season.
Pule Mmodi

Mmodi has been one of the players Nabi was forced to use since he did not have a better option. The winger scored crucial goals especially in the Nedbank Cup, but he missed sitters and struggled to make effective decisions in the Premier Soccer League.
Imagine a winger with 18 PSL appearances, and all he has is a single assist? Not good for a top club like Chiefs.
Ranga Chivaviro

The former Marumo Gallants striker joined the team, full of promise after scoring 17 goals in 30 games across all competitions in the 2022/23 season.
However, he has just managed nine in 45 games played for Amakhosi. Surely, you can't expect to win major honors with a striker like this. His contract might not be renewed as Nabi works hard on getting a new target man.
Tashreeq Morris

Morris was seen as quick fix by Nabi and his men when they failed to get an established striker in the January transfer window. He joined Chiefs from SuperSport United where he had struggled to make an impact.
In the 10 games he has played for Amakhosi across all competitions, the lanky striker has no goals or assists. It might be short but he has proved he doesn't have what it takes to play for the Glamour Boys.
