The South Africa tactician is adamant the Glamour Boys have to get back to the top of Mzansi football to increase the value of the game.
Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos is convinced in Nasreddine Nabi, Kaizer Chiefs have an experienced coach who can help turn the club's fortune around.
The Glamour Boys have gone nine seasons without any major silverware, but their struggles hit rock-bottom at the end of the 2023/24 campaign when they finished 10th in the Premier Soccer League, which is their worst-ever conclusion.
Nabi was brought in two months ago to help in setting up structures and sign up players to help the team get back to the top of South African football. Inasio Miguel, Gaston Sirino, Bongani Sam, Fiacre Ntwari, and Rushwin Dortley are the new players who have been signed.
Why is Broos rating Nabi highly?
“When I came back from Belgium, I didn’t know he was living in the same building as me,” the 72-year-old stated.

“Someone from Kaizer Chiefs came to me and said, ‘Coach, [Nabi] wants to speak to you’. He was sitting there, and he was drinking coffee.”
The Belgian then went on to share his opinion, “I think he’s a very good coach, I think when you see what’s happening at Chiefs, it’s a different thing.
“He wants what he wants. It’s maybe a little bit easier for him to achieve that in Chiefs because it’s not easy to be a coach of Chiefs and I think it’s not so easy for a South African coach to slam on the table and say, ‘I want that’.”
No Kaizer Chiefs, no party!
Broos believes Amakhosi should start offering stiff challenges in Mzansi, because that will help in taking the game to the next level.

“It’s not normal that a team like Chiefs is seven or eight in the league. It’s not good for South African football,” the Africa Cup of Nations-winning coach added.
“This is a big progression that happens for South African football and not the dominance of one team like we’ve seen in the last [seven seasons].”
Chiefs will start their 2024/25 campaign with an away PSL game against Marumo Gallants.
