Former Kaizer Chiefs forward Robson Muchichwa is among those who feel the Glamour Boys do not stand a chance of winning this season’s CAF Confederation Cup.
Chiefs made it to the group stages of the continental competition after beating Congolese club AS Simba 3-1 on aggregate with all goals scored in the second leg last weekend.

While they await the draw, which will be conducted in Johannesburg on November 3, Muchichwa thinks they will drop by the wayside because they do not have a team capable of competing.
“It's great to have won, but as we enter the group stages, I think the team needs to improve significantly,” Muchichwa told KickOff.

Muchichwa does not rate Chiefs for Confederation Cup
“Now that they are in the group stages, they must elevate their performance. They played well yesterday, scoring three goals, as the cup is all about advancing to the next round, not just about playing good football.
“I don't think we currently have the team to win this competition, but football can be unpredictable, especially in cup games. The more you win, the more confidence you gain. We've seen teams clinch cups even when they aren't performing well in the league.”

Chiefs signed 12 new players in the off-season but they are still struggling on the pitch with a lack consistency hampering them again.
The win against Simba was just their second in the last nine matches with no victory in the league since August 30 which has seen them drop from the top of the table, having opened the season with four wins and a draw.
