Chiefs adamant Pirates are least of their problems! ‘Not thinking about Soweto Derby’

The highly anticipated Soweto Derby between Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates is just three weeks away.

The fixture will give either team a chance to grab the bragging rights; for Amakhosi, it will be about building confidence after an inconsistent start to the season, while the Buccaneers will be using the match to underline their seriousness to push for the Premier Soccer League title.

Prior to the game that will be played on Saturday, February 1 at the FNB Stadium, the Glamour Boys two critical games; Sekhukhune United in the Premier Soccer League and the Nedbank Cup assignment against Free Agents in the Round of 32.

“For us, there is Sekhukhune, after that is the Cup game,” the Glamour Boys’ assistant coach Khalil Ben Youssef stated.

“We have to focus on Sekhukhune, when we finish with Sekhukhune we think about the Cup game.

“Then we discuss about the derby, but now we have Sekhukhune. We manage game by game, week by week.”

Meanwhile, Amakhosi legend Itumeleng Khune believes Christian Saile will deliver for the Chilli Boys after struggling to make an impact at Chiefs. The Congolese has been tipped to leave and create room for a new striker for Nasreddine Nabi-led outfit.

“Saile’s strength is to run at defenders, but he has not shown that since coach Nasreddine Nabi took over,” said Khune on SoccerZone.

“Remember when he came, he used to bang in goals. He used to take on defenders, creating opportunities coming from the right-hand side as a left-footed player.

“But I think if Chippa United eventually sign him, they will make use of him, but with Kaizer Chiefs, I doubt,” he concluded.
