Kaizer Chiefs Transfer blow? Shalulile and Mabasa offered to different club

Following the appointment of Rulani Mokwena as head coach, Egyptian powerhouse Pyramids FC have reportedly been offered the services of free-agent strikers Peter Shalulile and Tshegofatso Mabasa.

Both forwards are seeking opportunities abroad for the upcoming season after their departures from South African clubs Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates, respectively.

Pyramids FC are actively searching for a proven goalscorer to fill the void left by Congolese international Fiston Mayele.

Shalulile and Mabasa keen on overseas

The striker became a free agent after his contract expired, concluding a successful spell in Egypt where he scored 54 goals in 125 appearances and recently represented DR Congo at the FIFA World Cup.

According to SABC, Shalulile, who is Sundowns’ second all-time leading scorer behind the legendary Daniel ‘Mambush’ Mudau, is eager to secure an overseas move. This comes after potential transfers to Esperance and Wydad Casablanca fell through during the January window.

Meanwhile, Mabasa is currently a free agent and training independently while considering his options. He spent the latter half of last season on loan at Stellenbosch FC, but the parties could not reach an agreement for a permanent deal.

Chiefs and other PSL sides could miss out

It is understood that both players have been presented to Pyramids as potential attacking reinforcements. However, it remains unclear whether new coach Rulani Mokwena is interested in a reunion with either of the strikers in Cairo.

While there is still interest from clubs within the PSL, with Kaizer Chiefs among those linked, the priority for both Shalulile and Mabasa is to continue their careers outside of South Africa.

As the transfer window remains open, the football world will be watching to see if Pyramids will pursue either of the prolific South African forwards as Mokwena begins to shape his new squad for the upcoming campaign.
