Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs return to action this weekend with a CAF inter-club competition assignment.
On Saturday, they will be in the Democratic Republic of Congo to play AS Simba in the first leg of the second Preliminary Round of the CAF Confederation Cup. Amakhosi hope to secure an aggregate win that will see them get into the group stage.
The Premier Soccer League outfit got past Angolan side Kabuscorp in the initial preliminary round. They lost away by a solitary goal, before winning by the same margin at the FNB Stadium. In the penalty shoot-out, Chiefs managed a 5-4 win to get into the next phase.
However, the fans will not have an opportunity to watch their team play at the FNB Stadium against Simba in the second leg.
Where will Chiefs host Simba?
“Kaizer Chiefs are gearing up for a crucial double-header in the second preliminary round of the TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup, with venues and dates now confirmed for their home and away fixtures against AS Simba of the Democratic Republic of Congo,” Amakhosi said in a statement.
“Amakhosi will travel to Lubumbashi for the first leg later this week. The match is scheduled to kick off at 15:00 on Saturday, 18 October, at TP Mazembe Stadium.
“The return leg will be hosted at Dobsonville Stadium in Soweto on Sunday, 26 October. With home advantage, Chiefs will look to seal their spot in the group stages of this season’s competition,” they concluded.
Domestically, Chiefs have not been doing well recently, struggling to win five games in a row across all competitions.
