Abdeslam Ouaddou’s side have also been playing some exciting football, scoring lots of goals, and suffocating opponents to the delight of fans and observers.
Zwane is not surprised by what he is seeing, saying he expected Pirates to dominate games this season due to the quality squad they assembled and their workload, which was not going to be as much as Sundowns’.
Zwane on why Pirates are ahead of the rest
“We planned very well in terms of looking at other teams, how we can capitalise. And we knew that this season, the team that’s going to cause problems will be Pirates,” said Zwane as per iDiski Times.

“Players, they will tell you because we had to analyse every team. We knew that a team like Sundowns, they’ll be having players that are going to be in the World Cup squad. Plenty of them.
“Their team went to the Club World Cup. And their players were going to compete in the Champions League. And that is why when you watch Sundowns, they no longer play football with tempo, they manage now. I don’t know if you’ve noticed,” Zwane further said on why Sundowns are not at their fluent best.
Kaizer Chiefs legend in awe of Bucs’ quality
The Kaizer Chiefs legend detailed how he knew his team had a less chance against Pirates than any other side and planned to collect as many points from other teams but minimise damage against the Buccaneers.

“But Pirates, they come at you like nobody’s business. So now we needed to look at ourselves and say, who do we think we can go for? Where do we fancy our chances?” the ex-Chiefs coach posed.
“Take nothing away from the group that we have assembled. But this is one season that was there for many other teams to capitalise if they planned very well because World Cup was going to help them, obviously, to take a lot from Sundowns.”
Zwane has had a good season with Usuthu who currently sit in fourth place on the table, five points behind third-placed Chiefs, and still with hopes of qualifying for the CAF Confederation Cup.
