Chiefs legend: ‘Miguel will get red card in Soweto derby’

Published on by

Former Kaizer Chiefs winger Junior Khanye has expressed concerns about how defender Inacio Miguel will handle the pressure of the Soweto derby.

The Angolan centre-back, who joined Chiefs this season from Petro de Luanda, has shown inconsistency and was even sent off in a previous match against Mamelodi Sundowns.

Khanye predicts that Miguel could be sent off again in the highly charged atmosphere of the derby against Orlando Pirates.

WHY KHANYE THINKS MIGUEL WILL BE SENT OFF AGAINST PIRATES

“The thing about Pirates is that they are strong in attack, and I don't think Chiefs will be able to deal with the threat they possess,” he told Soccer Laduma.

“There has been inconsistency in terms of how Chiefs have been lining up especially at the back and that can cost them against Pirates.

“Sometimes (Njabulo) Blom is playing on the right and the other times it is (Reeve) Frosler there. I think (Bradley) Cross hasn't been as solid on the left and there have been a lot of schoolboy mistakes in the defence overall.

“(Inacio) Miguel has been making some unnecessary mistakes and I think he is going to get a red card in this game.

“I've got nothing against the guy but what I have noticed about how he plays is that he tends to get too emotional, and with this going to be his first Soweto derby, he will be very lucky not to get a red card because Pirates are going to put pressure on him.”

‘PIRATES WILL PLAY A LOT OF FLAIR’

He continued: “Chiefs are going into this game being the team that is under too much pressure, and it is going to be difficult for them.”

“Pirates have been pressing teams and that's how they have managed to get it right most of the time, and I see Chiefs struggling to contain them with their back four. Pirates will play with a lot of flair, and they will attack Chiefs.”
