Chiefs’ Nabi might be gone in two weeks! ‘Decision would be made after Nedbank Cup game against Sundowns’

Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi might be relieved of his duties if he drops points against TS Galaxy and fails to get past Mamelodi Sundowns in the Nedbank Cup semi-final scheduled for Sunday, April 13.

The Tunisian took over the club's technical team at the beginning of the season, succeeding Calvin Johnson, who had been given a caretaker role following the sacking of Molefi Ntseki after just 13 matches at the helm of the Soweto giants.

Despite getting massive support from the club's management – as opposed to other coaches before him the former AS FAR Rabat coach has struggled to deliver. Chiefs have lost 10 games in 23 games played, with just eight wins and five draws. The team also suffered exit in the quarter-final of the Carling Knockout.

Reports from Naturena indicate that the majority of decision-makers are uncertain whether Nabi has the capabilities to help the Glamour Boys reach greater heights. The 59-year-old might be jobless in the next two weeks or so, depending on the results the team registers.

‘The pressure is too much for Nabi and the management'

“What they have been discussing is believed to have put the coach under pressure. I don't think only with the Mamelodi Sundowns Nedbank Cup semi-finals game but also this weekend against TS Galaxy,” SNL24 revealed.

“It's not only about winning the cup but also finishing in the top eight in the league, and management believe that if the team loses or draws against TS Galaxy that would spell another disaster, so the pressure is not only for the Nedbank Cup but starting on Saturday

“Yes the main target now is to reach the Nedbank Cup final, and losing to Sundowns could mean the coach would be relieved of his duties. That's the other side of the management's thinking while the others think because it's already late, let him finish the season and see where the team finishes, even if we are knocked out of the Nedbank Cup.

“So it's mixed feelings, and the main decision would be taken after the game against Sundowns. So, as much as others want him gone if he loses against Sundowns, others feel it would he too little too late, so he should finish the season,” they concluded.
