Kaizer Chiefs have been offered an opportunity to land a defender who will soon leave bitter rivals Orlando Pirates.
Chiefs are in the market for new players with coach Nasreddine Nabi looking to beef up his squad and a number of positions need strengthening across the team.
Reports now claim Chiefs have been offered right-back Thabiso Monyane on a free transfer after it emerged that Pirates are not keen to extend his contract when it expires at the end of this month.

Monyane turned into a bit-part player in the 2024-25 season following the arrival of Deano van Rooyen with his playing time significantly reduced while his situation has not also been helped by injuries.
Will Chiefs take a chance on Thabiso Monyane?
With his deal coming to an end, Pirates feel they have enough at right-back in Van Rooyen and Bandile Shandu, deciding to part ways with Monyane and according to SABC, the player’s representatives have offered him to Chiefs.
The 25-year-old made just 12 appearances for Pirates in the just-concluded season and will be looking for a club that can guarantee him regular game time although it is not certain if Chiefs will be willing to take a chance on him.
![Orlando Pirates head coach Jose Riveiro has revealed the club’s next big target after winning the MTN8 for the third consecutive time. The Buccaneers beat Stellenbosch FC 3-1 in the final at a packed Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday evening. This was his fifth trophy since taking reins at Pirates in 2022. Given their success in cup competitions over the past two years, Riveiro acknowledged their ambition to compete for the Betway Premiership. He said consistency will be key in them achieving it this campaign. The Spanish guitar is already seeing positives after the Soweto giants won their opening three matches so far. RIVEIRO - WHAT PIRATES ARE AIMING FOR NOW “We're trying,” he said. “Like, I said already few weeks ago, I think we're taking every game so seriously. We want to fight for the league too. “We want to raise our level in that competition and we want to increase the level of the league itself, giving a proper competition to whichever contender who wants to fight for the league as well. “Fighting for the league, it goes without saying that. It's not about me talking here. We need to show [consistency] week in and week out, wherever we go and wherever we travel or whoever is coming to Orlando. So far it's something we managed to do. “We've played league games with three wins, we're trying to be that team every week again because it's absolutely necessary for us as a club, as a team and for the league too. So our commitment is maximum in three [domestic] competitions. “We didn't take the MTN8 lightly — in my eyes, in the group's eyes, it's an important trophy. “Same with the CAF Champions League. We did everything to find ourselves in the group stages. In the league we're trying to find that consistency to be our best versions in [all] the games. “So far we've covered three months of the season and we didn't sleep so much in these months. I think we did a good job.”](https://www.afrik-foot.com/en-za/app/uploads/2024/10/Thabiso-Sesane-and-Thabiso-Monyane-1024x640.jpg)
Chiefs have been relying on Dillon Solomons and Reeve Frosler at right-back but neither of them has nailed down the position while Zitha Kwinika has also played there when there is need.
Monyane has played at Pirates since getting promoted to the senior team in 2019, managing 95 appearances across all competitions, while he has scored four goals and provided three assists.
