Chiefs product, Ex-Sundowns player among the new faces at Sekhukhune as Hunt unveils new faces

Sekhukhune United and Stellenbosch confirmed some exciting faces as the short transfer window concluded.

Babina Noko are in the race for the Premier Soccer League alongside the defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns, Orlando Pirates, and Kaizer Chiefs. It explains why they have been busy adding players to their already impressive squad.

Coach Eric Tinkler had already signed Lehlohonolo Mojela (Stellenbosch FC), Amede Tidiane Diomande (Shirak Gyumri), and Andy Boyeli (End of Loan).

Chiefs product and ex-Sundowns attacker join Babina Noko

The club has now confirmed the arrival of Kaizer Chiefs product Thato Khiba and former Mamelodi Sundowns winger Lesiba Nku.

“Sekhukhune United welcomes Lesiba “Di Maria” Nku and Thato “Mbese Mbese” Khiba to the family,” they confirmed on their official media accounts.

“The midfield duo joins Babina Noko from Stellenbosch FC, to beef up, as we hit the second half of the season. Babina Noko look forward to your contribution, gentlemen!”

Meanwhile, the club confirmed a few exits, “As the January window shuts, we send our best wishes to Katlego “Kat” Mohamme and Samkele “Semali” Sihlali, as they go out on loan.

“Mohamme links up with Chippa United FC for the rest of the season, while Sihlali heads to Gomora United FC in the Motsepe Foundation Championship.

“The Babina Noko family bids fond farewell to Wonderboy Makhubu, who has been on our books for a few seasons. A committed striker who now takes the next step, finding a permanent home at Stellenbosch FC,” they concluded.

Stellies confirm new faces

In his bid to make an impact at Stellenbosch, former Kaizer Chiefs coach Gavin Hunt has welcomed a few new faces.

“Stellenbosch FC is delighted to announce the signings of Shakeel April from Cape Town City, Wonderboy Makhubu from Sekhukhune United, and Asekho Tiwani, on loan from Mamelodi Sundowns,” they said in a statement.

“The respective deals were concluded ahead of Thursday’s registration deadline, and the trio have all reported for training ahead of the weekend’s CAF Confederation Cup fixture against CR Belouizdad.

April and Tiwani join as two of the country’s brightest prospects after helping South Africa lift the CAF U-20 Africa Cup of Nations trophy and starring at the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Chile last year,” Stellies added.

“Makhubu, meanwhile, arrives as an experienced attacking option, having scored 15 goals in 38 league appearances while on loan from Sekhukhune United at Magesi FC over the last two-and-a-half seasons.

April has taken the No. 77 shirt, Makhubu will wear No. 36, and Tiwani has been allocated the No. 13 jersey,” they concluded.
