Chiefs terminate international defender’s contract amid disciplinary issues

Mochudi Centre Chiefs have terminated the contract of former Richards Bay defender Benson Kitso Mangolo.

The Botswana international has been having disciplinary problems that contributed to his exit from the Natal Rich Boys in the January Transfer Window for alleged breach of club’s code of ethics. He had served the Kgatleng-based outfit for barely three months before being released.

The Botswana top-tier side Chiefs then opted to give the 27-year-old a chance to redeem himself and rebuild his career.

However, according to the statement released by the team, the versatile defender has not been adhering to rules and contractual obligations, leaving the management with no option but to swing the axe.

Explained: Why Chiefs released Mangolo

“The decision follows repeated breaches of contractual obligations and the club’s internal regulations. Despite prior disciplinary action, Kitso Mangolo failed to meet the standards of discipline, professionalism and commitment expected at the club,” a statement from the club read.

“The employment relationship has irretrievably broken down, leaving no alternative but termination.

“The club remains committed to maintaining high standards and will not compromise on discipline and integrity,” they concluded.
