Chiefs to fire Nabi? Motaung Jr. confirms club decision after Nedbank heroics

Published on by

There have been reports about the future of Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi despite winning the Nedbank Cup last weekend with a 2-1 win over Orlando Pirates at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban.

It was the first time the Glamour Boys had won silverware after going for a decade without one. Rumours had it that the Tunisian's fate depended on the Nedbank Cup outcome after a disappointing Premier Soccer League run.

Currently, Amakhosi are ninth on the table with 30 points from 26 games, risking their participation in the MTN8 next season. The Times reported Amakhosi are still in the market for a new tactician to take over from the former AS FAR Rabat man for the 2025/26 edition.

“Coach has got another season after this with us now; at the same time, like we do it after every season, we sit down and review. We know that results in the league have been inconsistent,” he told 5FM.

“We know we’ve just been able to achieve a record milestone. With everything else, we’re moving forward in our planning, and we want to savour this moment, view this moment in a massive way moving forward.

“Galvanise the supporters, galvanise the technical team, the players, the staff for the mission ahead. So, we’re just planning for the future.”

The Glamour Boys are remaining with two Premier Soccer League matches to conclude the ongoing campaign. On Saturday, they will be playing Sekhukhune United before concluding with Polokwane City.
