Bafana Bafana international Sipho Mbule was recently released from Sekhukhune United to his parent club Mamelodi Sundowns.
The 27-year-old was loaned to Babina Noko at the start of the 2024/25 season, ending up playing 17 games across all competitions, where he scored two goals and provided three assists in the process. However, his loan move was cut short owing to off-field issues, and as a result, he was sent back to Masandawana.

Mike Makaab, who is Mbule's agent, has now stated that the newly crowned Premier Soccer League champions have until the end of May to exercise their option of extending the versatile midfielder's deal. Failure to do that, according to Makaab, will put his client in the market as a free agent.
Will Chiefs go for Mbule?
“Mamelodi Sundowns have until the end of May to exercise the option; if they don’t exercise the option, then Sipho is a free agent. We will then look at the number of possibilities for him,” Makaab told Gagasi FM.
“I’m not concerned, he is a talented player; yes, of course, he has his problems, we don’t have to beat around the bush about that, he is a talented football player, and I’m convinced that he is going to put his best forward. He has an option. If Mamelodi Sundowns take the option, then we have to look at other means of trying to move him if both he and the club are not keen to continue with their relationship.

“It’s never as easy as we’ve done in the past. We're gonna have to take this case carefully, examine all the possibilities, and then hopefully guide and assist Sipho in making the right decision for his future,” Makaab concluded.
Mbule has initially been linked to Kaizer Chiefs, and it is interesting to see whether they will revive their interest in the player to bolster their squad.
