Kaizer Chiefs have been advised to keep a midfielder who has fallen out of favour at the club even as they look set to cut ties with him.
Chiefs are set to conduct a review of their season which ended in disappointing fashion as they failed to get a top eight finish after placing ninth in the PSL although they won a trophy.
Amakhosi ended their 10-year wait for a trophy when they won the Nedbank Cup following a 2-1 victory over Soweto rivals Orlando Pirates in the final.
Following the underwhelming season, the club is set to release a number of players, some whose contracts are ending, while others have fallen out of favour, with reports indicating that midfielder George Matlou will not be handed a new contract while striker Tashreeq Morris will be loaned out.
Who does Khumalo want Chiefs to retain?

Goalkeeper Fiacre Ntwari is also looking to leave the club in search of regular game time, just one year after signing from TS Galaxy.
However, the future of attacking midfielder Mduduzi Mdantsane is still not decided but all indications point to a parting of ways given he was loaned out to Richards Bay this season but still fell out of favour, making just three appearances from the bench for the Natal Rich Boyz.
Mdantsane, however, still has one year remaining on his contract at Chiefs which means he will return from his nightmare loan spell and club legend Doctor Khumalo is advising his former club against letting the midfielder go.
Doctor backs Mdantsane to come good

“It will be good for Mdu [to go back to Chiefs]. Because remember, at Chiefs he was not getting game-time and the reason why loan players are is for them to get game time so that when they come back, they can say at least they gained game-time,” Khumalo told Soccer Zone as per KickOff.
“The unfortunate part is that as a player, if at Richards Bay they don't want him, then he has to go back to Kaizer Chiefs, and from where I am sitting, with my experience and what I saw from Mdu, he can come in handy.”
Khumalo feels Chiefs will need a deep squad next season now that they have qualified for the CAF Confederation Cup by virtue of winning the Nedbank Cup and players like Mdantsane will allow coach Nasreddine Nabi to rotate his squad when injuries and fatigue kick in.
