Kaizer Chiefs midfielder George Matlou has reportedly learnt his fate as his contract comes to an end in June.
Matlou has been at crossroads heading into the final months of his deal as he desires to stay at Chiefs even after a three-year spell disrupted by injuries.
The 26-year-old, a hard-working midfielder blessed with great dribbling abilities, has not been able to fully display his talents in a Chiefs shirt as injuries have limited his appearances, and he returned in January after nine months on the sidelines.
What have Amakhos decided about Matlou?
Matlous has made 15 appearances this season, providing two assists, one of them in the Nedbank Cup semi-final as Chiefs came from behind to beat Mamelodi Sundowns 2-1, before sealing a place in the final where they beat Orlando Pirates by the same score line to end their 10-year trophy drought.
Overall, Matlou has played 40 matches in all competitions, providing three assists, since joining Chiefs from Moroka Swallows ahead of the 2022-23 season on an initial two-year deal that was extended by a further year last term.
Now, according to iDiski Times, Chiefs have decided to let the midfielder leave at the end of his deal as they also look to create room for new additions to the squad.
Midfielder wanted extended Chiefs stay

Matlou had last week expressed a desire to stay at Chiefs but left it to the club to decide his fate.
“Yes, my contract is coming to an end this coming June. But I am going to leave that to God, as I said, because I am one person who grew up in church. So, I will give everything to God,” he told KickOff.
“Of course, most definitely to the technical team, to everyone, to the board and staff, to give me an opportunity if they do. It's football, but I'm not going to plan for the future now.”
Matlou surprised Chiefs fans when he celebrated their Nedbank Cup win for several days while wearing the club’s full kit and it seems he was saying his goodbyes to the Amakhosi faithful in the process.
