South African starlet Emile Witbooi has joined Roc Nation Sports agency in what is a major boost in the young footballer’s career.

The 16-year-old Cape Town city midfielder links up with the esteemed agency, founded by American rap star and entrepreneur Jay-Z, and joins a number of big-name footballers on the roster among them Manchester City playmaker Kevin De Bruyne, Real Madrid’s Vinicius Jr and Arsenal’s Gabriel Martinelli.

Witbooi becomes the first South African footballer to be represented by Roc Nation but joins other esteemed sportsmen in the agency from Mzansi such as Springbok captain Siya Kolisi, team-mate Cheslin Kolbe and Proteas fast bowler Lungi Ngidi.

“We are incredibly excited to welcome Emile to the Roc Nation Sports International family,” said Roc Nation Sports' Global Director of Football, Nathan Campbell, who was recently in South Africa.

Why has Roc Nation signed Witbooi?

“He is an exceptional young player with immense potential, and his standout performances at various levels of the game have understandably already earned him widespread recognition. We are committed to supporting him in achieving his goals and helping him reach the highest levels of the game.

“The agency – which also boasts a consulting partnership with Mamelodi Sundowns – has a proven track record of success in managing the careers of elite athletes, and this partnership with Witbooi signals their commitment to investing in the future of South African football.”

The youngster has continued to dazzle with his immense talent attracting scouts from Premier League club Chelsea, who offered him a one-month trial late last year.

Witbooi’s latest move indicates his desire to turn pro and ply his trade overseas and he will be hoping that his new representatives find him the best possible club to achieve his dreams.
