Ex-Chiefs coach identifies where Nabi is getting it wrong

Former Kaizer Chiefs assistant coach Farouk Khan has explained why he feels coach Nasreddine Nabi is struggling at the club.

Nabi’s team have been poor this season despite the veteran coach arriving with much promise and they are stuck in eighth position on the table.

Chiefs have gone three matches without winning, losing back-to-back games, a 2-0 defeat to Richards Bay just before the international break, followed by last Saturday’s 2-1 loss to Golden Arrows.

Khan diagnoses what ails Chiefs

Khan feels what is ailing Chiefs is that Nabi has not been able to come up with one style of playing that his players can understand and be comfortable in as he keeps chopping and changing every week which has made it hard for them.

“He needs to get the right balance. If I was his No.2, I would tell him; ‘coach, we need to get the right balance’,” Khan said on SoccerBeat.

“Let us not change from one week to the next with 3-4-4 or 3-5-2 like we did to a 4-2-3-1 or whatever.

“Let us play with one system and make it our system. We are Chiefs, let us impose our mentality.

“I do not think Chiefs is imposing themselves. This is what I would say to Nabi as his No.2. That; ‘listen coach, we need to impose and bring back the glory that will make teams respect us.’

“I promise you now after three wins, Chiefs will have the confidence and can be Chiefs.”

Chiefs are enduring another tough season, even after the former Yanga and AS FAR coach was brought in to change their fortunes, and backed with a host of new signings.

The Glamour Boys have won just eight of their 23 league games, losing 10 to remain eighth on the table with 29 points, and have a negative goal difference after scoring 23 goals and conceding 28.
