Ex-Chiefs forward gives damning verdict on Kaze and Ben Youssef – ‘Current coaches seem lost’

Kaizer Chiefs’ decision to hand the coaching job to Cedric Kaze and Khalil Ben Youssef divided opinion when their boss Nasreddine Nabi left the club.

Kaze and Ben Youssef were Nabi’s assistants and when the veteran Tunisian coach left, Chiefs opted against hiring a new coach and instead handed his assistant the reigns until the end of the season.

The two have not convinced so far as in the eight games that they have been in charge, Chiefs have won just two, drawing four and losing two.

That has left former Chiefs forward Robson Muchichwa unconvinced about the duo’s ability to lead Amakhosi as he feels they lack the experience to handle such a massive club.

Former Chiefs star wants an experienced coach

“I'm hoping Chiefs can go all the way [in the CAF Confederation Cup]. I was impressed with how they scored goals yesterday, which shows they are aware of their scoring issues and are actively working to address them,” Muchichwa told KickOff

“However, I believe we still need a more experienced head coach. Sometimes, the current coaches at Chiefs seem lost.

“It often appears they lack the experience needed to coach a big club like Kaizer Chiefs. We want consistent performance and don't want to see them struggling.”

Do Kaze and Ben Youssef have what it takes?

Kaizer Chiefs coaches Khalil Ben Youssef and Cedric Kaze were defied by Fiacre Ntwari.

Besides their coaching acumen getting questioned, Kaze and Ben Youssef have also come under criticism over their man-management skills especially when goalkeeper Fiacre Ntwari refused to come off during their Carling Knockout Round of 16 match against Stellenbosch FC early this month.

Chiefs’ two wins under the two coaches came in the CAF Confederation Cup, when they beat Angolan side Kabuscorp 1-0 in the return leg of their first preliminary round and last weekend’s 3-1 defeat of AS Simba from DR Congo which earned them a place into the group stages.
