Former Kaizer Chiefs defender Siyabonga Ngezana reportedly refused to undergo surgery even after suffering a meniscus injury, according to vocal FCSB owner Gigi Becali.
The ongoing campaign has not been good for the centre-back who has been in and out of the Romanian outfit. Prior to the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), the 28-year-old spent three months on the sidelines.

Despite playing 33 games for the club across all competitions, with just 16 coming in the league, Ngezana has missed some crucial games for his club. Since February to date, he has played just 13 minutes which came on April 20 in the 3-2 away win over Farul Constanta.
Becali argues that the Bafana Bafana international refused the procedure and opted for alternatives.
Mad Ngezana?
“How can I not trust him? I didn’t see who Ngezana is? He has some problems; he was injured in the last year. There are some people who have something wrong with their guinea pig and don’t understand what the doctor is telling them,” Becali responded to Orange Sport when asked about the player.

“That’s the problem, his madness, not that I don’t trust him as a footballer, he doesn’t want to have surgery,” he concluded.
Next week, Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos is expected to name his preliminary squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup to be co-hosted by the United States, Mexico and Canada.
It is interesting to see whether Ngezana, who has reportedly suffered a hamstring injury, will be included in the squad. South Africa are in Group A with Mexico, the Republic of South Korea, and the Czech Republic.
