Faiz Abrahams: When Kaizer Chiefs fifth signing could make debut

Kaizer Chiefs have officially announced their fifth acquisition of the current transfer window, bringing in highly-rated attacker Faiz Abrahams on a season-long loan from Stellenbosch FC.

The Soweto giants confirmed the deal on Thursday, unveiling the 21-year-old as their latest squad addition. The agreement includes an option for the Glamour Boys to make the move permanent at the conclusion of the 2024/25 campaign.

Abrahams is a versatile winger who has earned significant praise in South African football circles. He enjoyed a standout season in the DStv Diski Challenge (DDC), where he scored 11 goals and was honoured as the reserve team’s Footballer of the Season.

Abrahams international experience

“At just 21 years old, Abrahams already boasts an impressive football résumé. He made his PSL debut in April 2024 – a day after celebrating his 19th birthday.

“Abrahams later moved to Stellenbosch and also gained international experience in Israel before returning to South Africa last season, where he featured for Stellenbosch,” Chiefs said through a statement.

He also brings international experience to Naturena, having spent last season on loan with Israeli club Hapoel Kfar Saba. His development was further highlighted by his key role in the South African U20 national team (Amajita) that won the U20 Africa Cup of Nations.

Abrahams joins a list of new arrivals at the club, including defensive and attacking reinforcements like Langelihle Phili and Renaldo Leaner, as Chiefs continue to rebuild their squad.

Amakhosi supporters may get their first glimpse of the new signing this weekend. Kaizer Chiefs are set to face Lamontville Golden Arrows in an MTN8 clash at FNB Stadium on Sunday, and Abrahams could be in contention to make his debut.
