Former Orlando Pirates winger Lebohang Mokoena believes Kaizer Chiefs cannot be ruled out of the PSL title race given where they are on the table.
Chiefs are second on the log with 30 points, just two behind leaders Mamelodi Sundowns from 15 games, and also have the best defence in the league after keeping 11 clean sheets.
That has got fans believing but there are some who do not think they have a squad good enough to challenge Sundowns, who have won the last eight PSL crowns, and Orlando Pirates, who have been the form team in the division.
Little expectation could favour Chiefs
However, Mokoena, who also played for Sundowns, thinks Chiefs could sneak in given they have no weight of expectations like the other two teams.
“Chiefs being there in the top three I think they stand a good chance because there is no pressure on them,” Mokoena said on SoccerBeat.
“Everybody is expecting Chiefs to fight for the top eight but they are slowly creeping in and by the time you open your eyes, it will be five games to go and Chiefs is probably sitting second or third on the log or it might be vice-versa.
Do Amakhosi have enough to win title?

“Chiefs could be on top, Pirates second and Sundowns third or Sundowns second, Pirates first and Chiefs third so it could happen like that. It is a possibility, they will not say it out loud, but I am sure the boys at Naturena are believing.”
Chiefs last won the PSL title in 2015 and have watched Sundowns lift the last eight but even this season, few thought they could be in the conversation given they could only finish ninth last term.
However, having accumulated 30 points from 15 games and Sundowns not showing the form of old to be just two ahead, they could crash the title party.
