Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Gaston Sirino has been accused of disciplinary breach at the Soweto giants.
The former Mamelodi Sundowns star was among the seven new players who were signed to help in the team's rebuild. He has already shown his quality after registering two goals and four assists in just nine games across all competitions.
However, it has been alleged that Chiefs are unhappy with Sirino, who is claimed to be faking injuries and failing to turn up for training, only to show up when matchday approaches, to the frustration of coach Nasreddine Nabi and his team-mates.
The reports contradict what former teammate, at Chilena outfit San Felipe, Jorge Acuna – who played for Mamelodi Sundowns from 2007 to 2009, said.
Sirino is a good person, an extraordinary player
“Gaston Sirino is a great player and a good human being; I had the pleasure of knowing him, helping him when we were teammates,” he said as quoted by Kick-Off.
“He is an extraordinary player and an admirable person. We don't always remember all the players we played with, especially me, but with Gaston, it is impossible not to do so. Gaston is unforgettable for me, thanks to football.
“I had the fortune of sharing [the field] with great South American players and Gaston is undoubtedly one of them. Simply a genius on and off the field and I thank football for giving me the opportunity to share the dressing room with him,” Acuna added.
“Send him a big hug and tell him that I always remember him with great affection and that I will never forget what he told me when he saw me. It's scaring me…”
Sirino played six-and-a-half years at Masandawana and won 13 major trophies.
