‘I’m not happy with you’ – Why Bongani Zungu is not impressed by Themba Zwane

The ex-Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder was not pleased with ‘Mshishsi’ over one thing

Bongani Zungu has revealed his disappointment that his friend Themba Zwane does not have a portrait of him in his house despite playing together for long.

Zungu and Zwane played alongside each other at Mamelodi Sundowns for a combined five years, when the midfielder had two spells with Brazilians, and developed a good relationship on and off the pitch.

The 31-year-old has since left the club while ‘Mshishi’ is still leading Sundowns but they have remained in touch.

Zungu paid a visit to Zwane’s house this week and was surprised that his buddy has a portrait of himself and other Sundowns stars such as Peter Shalulile on the wall while he is missing in any of them.

Bongani Zungu proud of Themba Zwane but…

“Mshishi you have Peter on here but you don’t have me,” Zungu bemoaned.

“To be honest my friend, I am not happy with you.”

It was, however, on a light note from Zungu who had started by expressing how impressed he is by Zwane after touring his garage.

“I am proud of my friend,” Zungu said as he walked around Zwane’s house.

Where will Bongani Zungu play next?

Zungu made 81 league appearances for Sundowns across his two spells, the first being between 2013 and 2016, before a stint in Europe where he played for Portuguese club Vitoria Guimaraes and French side Aimes.

He returned to the club in 2022 and became one of the key players as Masandawana continued their dominance in the PSL before his shock departure at the end of last season when he was released.

Zungu has been linked with a number of clubs with Morocco’s Wydad AC, now coached by former Sundowns tactician Rulani Mokwena, credited with an interest.
