‘Football has its miseries’ – Kaze breaks down what is ailing Chiefs after Siwelele draw

Kaizer Chiefs coach Cedric Kaze believes his team have problems in defence and lack a clinical edge, leading to a string of draws.

Chiefs failed to win yet again as they played out a goalless draw at home to Siwelele FC on Wednesday, their third straight stalemate in the league, after finding it hard to break down their opponents.

The Glamour Boys hogged possession but never got in positions to hurt Siwelele, who had their chances too, and it is a frustration not just to the fans but the coaching staff who should be finding solutions.

“It is a tough week and with all the games every three days, it is very hard to keep the consistency,” Kaze told SuperSport TV after the game.

“But I think that overall, the performance was good, not very good, but I feel defensively, we were a little bit unbalanced, we let the opposition get in a position of crossing, and in the box,” he added, explaining their defensive issues.

The Burundian coach then went into details over their problems in front of goal, something that has been recurring this season as this was their third straight game in which they failed to score.

“These kinds of games, we had the opportunities to score but we do not have to play good everyday but to just put the ball in the net and then wait for the next game,” Kaze further said.

“Unfortunately, we do not seem to be clinical, lucky in front of the net but we have to keep working and I am pretty sure that it will come.

Is there a route out of the mess for Amakhosi?

Put to him that Siwelele are a struggling team who have won just twice in the league this season, Kaze struggled for a response but is keeping positive that the good days will come.

“Football has its miseries, Siwelele are not very well on the log but you can see it is a team that has been losing 1-0 and it is a team that defends well and is difficult to score against,” he added.

“But we are home, we are Kaizer Chiefs and we had the opportunities and possession to score. We were controlling the game and we have to do better definitely.”

Kaze will hope to see something different at the weekend as Chiefs must beat AS Simba of DR Congo to make it to the CAF Confederation Cup after a goalless draw in Lubumbashi last Saturday.
