The experienced midfielder has agreed a one-year contract at his new club

Former Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Andile Jali has joined PSL side Chippa United.

Jali has been without a club since ditching Moroka Swallows in December 2023 following the financial woes experienced by the Dube Birds.

The 34-year-old joined Swallows at the start of last season after five years with the Brazilians but had to endure a tough spell with the club unable to honour its financial obligations, forcing him to leave.

Now, Chippa United have offered him refuge as they seek to benefit from his experience in midfield in the coming season.

‘He is finally returning to his home province’

“Chippa United FC is delighted to announce the signing of the prominent, Andile Jali, for the upcoming season,” the club announced.

“Born in Matatiele in the Eastern Cape, Jali left the province to pursue a successful career in both international and domestic football.

“He is finally returning to his home province, bringing his wealth of experience and skills to strengthen our squad. Welcome back to the Eastern Cape Mhlekazi!”

The Chilli Boys parted ways with 16 players

The Matatiele native has signed a one-year deal with the Chilli Boys who are out to conduct a major squad overhaul after releasing 16 players at the end of last season.

Jali should add steel in midfield for Chippa who are looking to improve on their 12th place finish of 2023-24.

The midfield enforcer is the first signing for the club which parted ways with Luvuyo Memela, Roscoe Petersen, Senzo Nkwanyana, Loydt Kazapua, Azola Ntsabo, Siyabonga Nhlapo, Siphelele Luthuli, Darren Johnson, Menzi Ndwandwe, Andile Fakude, Kamohelo Mahlatsi, Diego Apollis, Khanyisile Mayo, Siseko Manona, Yurig Conwood, and Andile Mbenyane in June.
