Kaizer Chiefs loanees Happy Mashiane and Samkelo Zwane are expected to return to Naturena, as their current club, Siwelele FC, is reportedly only interested in signing them permanently if they become free agents.
The duo joined Siwelele on loan from Amakhosi in January, seeking more consistent playing time to revitalise their careers. However, neither player has managed to make a significant impact during their time away from their parent club.
Mashiane, a product of the Chiefs academy who was promoted in 2019, has struggled with injuries and intense competition for his position. His loan spell was intended to help him regain form, but he has made just a single appearance for Siwelele across all competitions.
Zwane and Mashiane fail to sparkle

Zwane, once considered one of Chiefs’ most promising midfield talents after his promotion in 2023, has fared slightly better with seven appearances. His promotion followed standout performances in the reserve league and for South Africa’s junior national teams.
Sources indicate that Siwelele, which is set to fully relocate to Bloemfontein, would prefer to sign the players outright rather than extend their loans. However, as per SABC, the club is only prepared to pursue them if Kaizer Chiefs release them from their contracts.
Both Mashiane and Zwane remain contracted to the Glamour Boys, meaning any permanent move would require a transfer fee unless Amakhosi agrees to terminate their deals, allowing them to leave for free.
Kaizer Chiefs duo’s future uncertain

Their futures are set to be a key topic of discussion next month, especially with Kaizer Chiefs expected to appoint a new head coach. The decision-making process is further complicated by the uncertain status of current co-coaches Cedric Kaze and Khalil Ben Youssef.
Despite leading the team to a third-place finish in the PSL and securing CAF Confederation Cup qualification with the club’s highest points total in five years, their positions are not guaranteed. Ultimately, the new coach, whoever that may be, will likely have the final say on where Mashiane and Zwane will be playing next season.
