Glody Lilepo revels in big milestone achieved at Kaizer Chiefs

Kaizer Chiefs winger Glody Lilepo has revealed his delight at helping the club achieve one of its key targets.

Chiefs ended their 10-year wait for a trophy when they lifted the Nedbank Cup early this month which earned them a ticket to the CAF Confederation Cup next season.

Lilepo says winning a trophy was one of the targets set by the club and having beaten Orlando Pirates in the final to lift the Nedbank Cup, he is now itching for more, with a chance to compete in the MTN8 next season still possible if they can win their final game of the season against Polokwane City on Saturday.

“We are all very happy because we know how important it is for the club. Our goal was to end this long period without trophies and bring back some joy to the fans,” Lilepo told iDiski Times.

“Personally, I am training well, as is the rest of the squad. We understand how important this game is for our chances of finishing in the top eight and give us a more positive outlook to prepare for next season.”

Lilepo joined Chiefs in January from French side Valenciennes and was an instant hit, scoring six goals and providing one assist in 14 matches, endearing him to the supporters.

With Chiefs facing a must-win situation on Saturday, the Congolese forward has issued a rallying call to Amakhosi supporters to turn up in big numbers and push the team as they bid to end the season with a flourish.

“Khosi Nation, once again we need you on Saturday for the last game of the season. Please bring your fantastic energy to help us finish the season strongly. Thank you in advance. Love and peace,” he added.

Beating Polokwane will, however, not be an easy task as Rise and Shine also need a win to be certain of a top eight finish while Nasreddine Nabi’s team are yet to taste victory in their last eight PSL matches.
