Has Chiefs-linked Mayele confirmed his Pyramids’ exit?

Kaizer Chiefs are in the market for a new striker ahead of the 2025/26 Premier Soccer League campaign.

Coach Nasreddine Nabi will be aiming at successfully defending his Nedbank Cup crown and have a say in the Carling Knockout. However, his main objective will be making a statement in the PSL after struggles seen in the previous two campaigns.

In the 2023/24 season, the Glamour Boys finished 10th and a year later, they ended a position higher, meaning they will, once again, miss the MTN8 which is played by the teams that made the top half of the table in the concluded edition of the South African top-flight football.

Amakhosi are also set to take part in the Caf Confederation Cup by virtue of winning the Nedbank Cup. Stellenbosch, who reached the semi-final in the concluded campaign, will also represent Mzansi.

Mayele to strengthen Amakhosi's attack?

One of the players who has been heavily linked to Chiefs is the Democratic Republic of Congo striker Fiston Mayele. Coach Nasreddine Nabi has been pushing for a re-union with the established 30-year-old Pyramids forward.

The club released Ranga Chivaviro recently after the expiry of his contract, leaving the struggling Tashreeq Morris as their only established striker, alongside the versatile Ashley du Preez and Wandile Duba.

Chiefs faithful have every reason to be optimistic after Fiston Mayele suggested he is done with the Egyptian outfit after winning them the Caf Champions League.

“Two seasons with Pyramids, 41 goals scored in all competitions thank you very much to the whole team and thanks to all these people for their help in everything, Alhamdulillah,” the former Yanga SC player wrote.

It is interesting to see whether Mayele will finally join Amakhosi or he will see out his deal with Pyramids that expires in June 2026.
