Has former Pirates & Sundowns midfielder been axed already by Chippa? September concedes team is rebuilding

Former Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Andile Jali has struggled to make an impact at Chippa United.

The former Bafana Bafana international was one of the Chilli Boys' signings at the start of the ongoing campaign. So far, the 34-year-old has so far played 13 games across all competitions and made just 10 starts. However, he has not played for the club since February 18, when he featured for just a minute against Cape Town City.

On Saturday, Jali didn't even make the matchday squad as his team beat AmaZulu 2-1 in the Premier Soccer League assignment staged at the Buffalo City Stadium in East London. Coach Thabo September has since explained the situation between the player and the team, explaining why he missed last weekend's game.

Chippa future without Jali?

September says he is rebuilding his team, hinting that the combative midfielder is not part of his future plans.

“Let’s leave individual players, I don’t want to talk [about them]. [Andile Jali] is not injured; he is a Chippa player. Who else is not here? Then you’re going to make my players also [think] this one is bigger than this one, [and] it’s not [the case],” September told the media.

“Who else is not here? If you give me the players that are not here, all of them, then I will answer [for] the individuals. That is football. Don’t look to mess up what we are building,” he concluded.

Chippa United are currently ninth on the table with 28 points from 21 games, with a massive chance of finishing in the top eight after failing to do so last season.
