According to legendary football figure Mlungisi ‘Professor' Ngubane, Kaizer Chiefs are making a grave error by not strengthening their goalkeeping department.
He argues that the club's coaching staff, under the guidance of Nasreddine Nabi, should not be fooled by the team's ability to hold a clean sheet in their recent friendly against Asante Kotoko.
Despite the 0-0 full-time score at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in the Toyota Cup, Ngubane pointed out that Chiefs went on to lose the match in a penalty shoot-out.
He insists this result highlights the underlying issues within the goalkeeping ranks. The club's current goalkeepers—Brandon Petersen, Bruce Bvuma, and Fiacre Ntwari—have all failed to show consistent form, and Ngubane believes this inconsistency will prove costly.

‘CHIEFS HAVE NOT CHANGED AT ALL’
“Kaizer Chiefs has not changed at all. If they continue to rely on the two goalkeepers, Bruce Bvuma and Brandon Petersen, then nothing has truly improved,” Ngubane told KickOff.
“It's crucial for Kaizer Chiefs to acquire a new goalkeeper. On Saturday, they managed to keep a clean sheet because they were up against a team that struggles to score goals.
“While the Asante Kotoko team is not weak, it is filled with young players; I believe they are all under 23 years old.
“I observed this closely during my time at Moses Mabhida Stadium, and I could tell their youth was evident.
“Since it is still pre-season, Chiefs have time to find a good goalkeeper. A solid goalkeeper instills confidence in the defenders.”
