Mamelodi Sundowns striker Iqraam Rayners feels his team need to be wary of an upset against Chippa United ahead of their league clash on Wednesday.
Sundowns can inch closer to an eighth straight PSL title, if they beat the Chilli Boys at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Wednesday, but Rayners does not want to take things for granted especially with Chippa fighting for a place in the top eight.
The former Stellenbosch striker is counting on the camaraderie within the Sundowns camp to guide them to another win that will edge them close to the coveted title.
“I think the mood has always been good between the players, the coaches, the technical team, and other staff members. We’re in a really good space to finish off the season,” said Rayners.
Can Sundowns complete the job early?

“It’s always difficult to play against the teams much below us on the log because they are fighting to get into the top eight, and they are willing to fight for their lives, and make it really difficult for a team like Sundowns. For us, it’s important to get the points and to focus on the next game.”
Rayners is also alive to the fact that Chippa have gone four matches without a win and they possess some match winners that could shock Sundowns.
“I know Chippa United have a lot of quality players, quality players that will look to cause danger against us,” he added.
Sundowns need two more wins from their remaining two matches to be certain of the title although they could wrap it up on Wednesday if second-placed Orlando Pirates lose to Golden Arrows on Tuesday.
