Is Hotto leaving Pirates as well? The Buccaneers make decision about Namibia international

Published on by

Orlando Pirates have been busy shaping up their squad ahead of another busy 2025/26 season, where they will be competing domestically and internationally.

In the last couple of days, the Soweto giants have confirmed the release of Innocent Maela, Miguel Timm, Paseka Mako, and Thabiso Monyane after their contracts expired. The Soweto giants are also in the market for a new coach after Jose Riveiro's exit to Egyptian Premier League champions Al Ahly.

There have been reports that the club has brought in several new faces, but nothing has been confirmed yet.

Is Namibia international Deon Hotto on his way out?

In the 2024/25 season, versatile Namibia international Deon Hotto was one of the players who performed well. The 34-year-old played 49 games across all competitions with a return of six goals and eight assists.

With his contract expiring, the Buccaneers have acted first to have him for next season before other teams capitalise on the situation to sign him.

“Deon Hotto is staying with Orlando Pirates. The club has finalised the terms of his contract and is set to meet with the player to sign on the dotted line. The Pirates fans love him. Hotto loves being here. It was just a matter of finalising a few issues on his new contract,” KickOff reported.

Hotto is now set to meet with the management in the next couple of days to finalise the new deal. However, it is interesting to see whether the new coach will still play Hotto at left-back or in an advanced position
