‘It came as a surprise’: Chiefs loanee Jansen on SuperSport move

Kaizer Chiefs loanee Donay Jansen has expressed his feelings regarding the club's decision to loan him to SuperSport United.

The young attacker was promoted to the Amakhosi senior team towards the end of the last campaign under the guidance of the interim coach Cavin Johnson.

The 21-year-old made his senior debut in the league match against Polokwane City.

At the start of this season, the Soweto giants offered him an improved contract, indicating their intention to retain him for the future.

However, in order to ensure he receives adequate playing time, the club opted to loan him to Matsatsantsa, where he has featured in two matches across all competitions.

Jansen noted that the decision to loan him out was unexpected, especially while he was celebrating his promotion to the first team.

However, he views this opportunity as a chance to demonstrate his abilities and make a positive impression while away from parent club.

DONAY JANSEN HONEST FEELINGS ABOUT LOAN MOVE TO SUPERSPORT

“Well, that came as a surprise to me. Firstly, I was excited to be on the first team, and then I went out on loan,” Jansen told FARPost.

“On the team, there are so many youngsters. They are all talented, and I’ve been watching them play well. I played with them as well. There are the likes of Mfundo, Duba, Samkelo, and Mdu.

“What I should focus on is working hard at training and during matches whenever I get a chance. I believe that this loan move is a good one for me. It would help me to grow as a player. Hopefully, the team [Chiefs] will see my potential.

“I believe the coach and the technical team want me to prove something in a different environment. I’ll always be ready to step up whenever I get a chance to play.”
