‘It has not been all bad things!’ – Dove defends under-fire Chiefs

Published on by

Kaizer Chiefs defender Edmilson Dove has come in defence of Amakhosi who are under fire following the poor results in recent matches.

The Phefeni Glamour Boys are currently experiencing a dip in form, having gone three games without a win, including two consecutive losses and a draw.

This recent run contributes to their overall season record of 10 wins, 11 defeats, and 5 draws across all competitions. While these results have drawn criticism from fans, defender Dove has offered a more positive perspective.

He stated that the team has been diligently working in training to rectify their mistakes, specifically pointing to wasted goal-scoring opportunities and conceding easy goals as key areas for improvement.

Despite these challenges, the Mozambican defender insists that there have been positive aspects to their game, emphasizing that “it has not all been bad.”

DOVE ON TWO THINGS CHIEFS HAVE TO IMPROVE

“We have been working extremely hard on the field to try and correct that and keep all the good things that we have been doing because it's not been all bad things,” said Dove as quoted by KickOff.

“We are trying to polish our final entrance. We have been creating so many chances and sometimes we don't convert them but also trying to minimize the number of goals that we concede.

“I think overall it is working on all the departments where we feel like sometimes, we let ourselves down.

“I think we need to maintain the good things that we have been doing, I'm sure we will get it right.

“Defending doesn't start at the back. It is a whole unit problem and, as I said, there are things that we need to fix starting from the front to the back.

“When we concede goals, it is not only about defenders but the whole team, so it is something that we need to fix as a unit and not as a department.”
