Kaizer Chiefs have made their first signing of the January transfer window but it is not what fans had been hoping for.
Chiefs have been quiet this month with the club hierarchy confirming that they will not be going all out in January but have brought in young midfielder Xhosa Manyana who joins on a six-month loan deal from Cape Town City FC.
Manyana will join the Kaizer Chiefs DStv Diski Challenge (DDC) team and will strengthen the midfield after Thulani Mabaso was promoted to the senior team.
“Kaizer Chiefs are pleased to announce that Xhosa Manyana will be joining our Reserves team on loan from Cape Town City until the end of the 2026 season,” the note said.
Stiff competition for Manyana

“We welcome Xhosa to the Amakhosi family and look forward to seeing him develop, make an impact on the field, and represent the Kaizer Chiefs badge with pride, discipline, and professionalism. We wish him all the best for his loan spell,” Amakhosi added.
Manyana will have it tough as there is competition for places in central midfield at Chiefs where Pheko Phago and Vicky Mkhawana are the preferred duo.
Chiefs are enjoying a good run in the DDC as their 2-0 win over Mamelodi Sundowns on Sunday was their fifth straight victory, coming after a run of five draws on the bounce, although they are still 11 points behind leaders Orlando Pirates.
The Glamour Boys have 26 points from 14 matches with Pirates on 37, having played 15, and Chiefs will hope that their new signing will help them climb up the table as they look to retain their title.
