Kaizer Chiefs Transfer News: Amakhosi to beat Mokwena to 21-year-old star’s signature?

Kaizer Chiefs might get their man, Langelihle Phili, in the Premier Soccer League’s Summer Transfer Window.

The 21-year-old versatile attacker had an impressive campaign with Stellenbosch last season. In his debut campaign, he managed to score nine goals and an assist for the Maroons in the 39 games he played across all campaigns.

During the Stellies’ end of the season gala, Phili was rewarded with the Players’ Player of the Season, Young Player of the Season, Golden Boot and Rama Fans’ Player of the Season awards.

As expected, several teams have been linked with the star, among them Kaizer Chiefs and Al-Ittihad of Libya, who are coached by the former Mamelodi Sundowns tactician Rulani Mokwena.

Stellies have reportedly contacted Amakhosi for the services of their winger Ashley du Preez who has struggled for regular game time. In the just concluded campaign, the versatile attacker managed just 12 appearances in all competitions with an assist to his name.

Reports indicate the Glamour Boys might include Phili in their discussions since they are willing to let Du Preez leave owing to his inconsistencies. This might see Mokwena losing out on his target.

Amakhosi finished third in the 2025/26 campaign to secure a place in the CAF Confederation Cup. Apart from the Premier Soccer League, the Glamour Boys will also compete in the MTN8, Carling Knockout, and the Nedbank Cup, which will require quality and depth.

Sources further claim that Du Preez is determined to prove his worth at the Naturena Village as opposed to joining his boyhood club.
