Kaizer Chiefs assistant coach Khalil Ben Youssef has commented on the continued penalty misses by his side which has now denied them back-to-back league wins.
Chiefs played out a 1-1 draw with AmaZulu on Wednesday but should have won the game as they had a penalty but missed and also Pule Mmodi saw his effort, which was headed into the net, ruled out after team-mate Khanyisa Mayo got a touch when coming from an offside position.
This was the second straight league match when Chiefs were missing a penalty after Gaston Sirino also wasted his spot kick against Marumo Gallants last week when the two teams drew 1-1.
It has become a concern amongst Chiefs fans as the penalties missed have cost the team four points, but Ben Youssef does not think the players are to blame as they have converted from 12 yards before.

“Lilepo last season he scored three penalties, Sirino last season in the final of Nedbank Cup he scored a penalty,” Youssef told SuperSport TV after the game.
“You know, penalties is a 50 percent chance also and you have to say congratulations to the keeper also he saved the penalty, we have to continue to work. We have nothing to say now, but the opportunity to continue to work.”
Ben Youssef feels their problems lie elsewhere as they were not clinical again despite totally dominating the match and wants the players’ decision-making to quickly improve in subsequent matches.
What is Amakhosi’s main problem currently?

“I think I have to say I’m so happy about the performance of the players. I think after a lot of games, we play every two games with the same squad today everyone saw the game, how many chances we create to score,” he added.
“The man of the match was the keeper of AmaZulu so it resumes everything about the game. I said it before the game that we’re struggling in the last third sometimes we’re unlucky, sometimes the chance, we have to work in, we have to keep going and find solution in the last third.”
Ben Youssef will hope to see improvements at the weekend as Chiefs play away to Stellenbosch FC in the Carling Knockout round of 16 on Sunday.
