Kaizer Chiefs coach reveals how absent Nabi is helping them win matches

Kaizer Chiefs assistant coach Khalil Ben Youssef has refuted claims that they are winning games because his boss Nasreddine Nabi is not around.

Chiefs have started their PSL campaign with back-to-back wins against Stellenbosch FC and Polokwane City to give their fans belief that the good old days might be returning.

Some fans have been quick to point out that the team seem to be ‘cooking’ with Ben Youssef and Cedric Kaze, who are leading the team without Nabi, who is on compassionate leave after being granted time off, after members of his family were involved in a road accident just before the season started.

Tunisian tactician Ben Youssef has, however, dismissed that notion, insisting that the entire technical team is in constant communication with Nabi whose tactical advice is helping Chiefs win matches.

How has absent Nabi been helping Chiefs?

“I think if the coach is here or is not here… we are technical staff, all of us we are familiar, we work together, we keep contact every day,” said Ben Youssef as quoted by iDiski Times.

“Every training session we discuss, we meet via zoom with the technical staff to discuss all the plans.

“We prepare the team together. Yes, physically coach Nabi is not here but he’s with us, we work together, we are a team.

“We help each other, and we don’t think about who is not here, who is here – all technical staff work together.”

Chiefs host Richards Bay in their third league match on Tuesday evening and will be looking to continue their fine run even with Nabi still away.
